After an explosive start our Collaborative Fiction Competition seems to have take a demonic twist!  And we’re having a devil of a job keeping a straigh face about it. What will happen next?

fashionSadly David Bowie can’t make it this year (OK, he wasn’t invited!) but this year the Lindfield Arts Festival is delighted to be holding its own Fashion Show, kindly supported by local charity organisations and retailers.

The show will take place at All Saints Church Lindfield on Saturday 13 September at 2:30pm Consisting of three distinct collections, the show represents the Past, Present and Future of Lindfield and Haywards Heath.

The Past collection is being represented by eight local charity shops in Haywards Heath, which are each showing vintage and pre-loved clothes.

The Present section will be taken by Leaping Hare, in Lindfield, and they will be showing their latest autumn/winter collection.

The Future will be represented by fashion and textile students from the local area who will be sharing their visions on the future of fashions to come. With each ticket there will be a complematry drink and the chance to win one of the floral displays that will been designed and arranged by Chrissie from Leaping Hare.

Heather Martin Garden Design workshop It’s Bank Holiday Monday and it’s a bit wet out there! Never mind, at least it’s good for the garden!

Speaking of which, have you got your tickets yet for Heather Martin’s Garden Design Workshop? It’s on Sunday 14th September from 1pm top 3pm at Lindfield Primary School!

Heather will explore the basics of garden design, from historic influences to contemporary outdoor spaces and gardens today. This interactive workshop will also give you the opportunity to work through an example of modern planting design basics.

Lindfield Arts FestivalEver wondered how good some of the local artists and craftspeople are around Lindfield?  Well now you can take a look at some out incredible talent. The Exhibitors page on the Lindfield Arts Festival page shows some of their work and a short biography.

Why not take a look at the website and decide whether you want to spend some of your time at the Arts and Crafts stalls on the Common or at the Art Exhibition at Lindfield Primary School.  Why not both? There so much to see at this years Festival.

Drum CoachPeter Welch, aka, the drumcoach, is based in Rotherfield, near Crowborough, on the East Sussex and West Kent border.

Not only is he running an African Drumming workshop at the King Edward Hall on Sunday 14th September, but his troupe will be entertaining the villages at the Primary School, The Bent Arms, and outside Paolinos at various times during the day.

Stepping Out

Sound CompanyStepping Out (left) is a male  Barbershop Quartet (David Ellwood/Lead, Nigel Green /Baritone, Brian Shorrocks/Tenor and John Higgins/Bass) who sing unaccompanied Four Part Harmony in the “Barbershop” Style. John is a Lindfield resident, and the other members of the Quartet all live within a 40 mile radius. The Quartet have over 70 years experience between them of singing Barbershop Harmony, and this year were the opening Act at the National Barbershop Convention in Harrogate. The Quartet regularly perform at Concerts and Functions throughout the South East.

Sound Company (right) is a male Barbershop Chorus, formed in January 2013, and which  is based in Horsham West Sussex. Its members are all experienced Barbershop singers – all of whom have sung in Barbershop Choruses for many years, including The Cambridge Chord Company, The Royal Harmonics, TheThames Valley Chorus, and The Sussex Harmonisers.  Several Members of the Chorus have successfully performed at International level, and the Chorus regularly performs both competitively and at Functions in the South East”
